Description
Quick and flavorful green beans sautéed with garlic and soy sauce, perfect as a side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prep those beans: Trim the ends off your green beans, and don’t be shy—make them look neat! Wash them under cool water.
- Blanch and shock: Boil a pot of water, add a generous pinch of salt, and drop in the beans for about 3 minutes. You want them bright green and just barely tender. Then, quickly transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking.
- Heat it up: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once it’s shimmering, toss in the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (30 seconds is golden).
- Get cooking: Add the blanched green beans and soy sauce to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until the beans are heated through. If you like it spicy, throw in those red pepper flakes!
- Final touches: Season with salt and pepper to taste. Maybe even a splash more soy sauce if you’re feeling adventurous. Give it one final toss before serving.
Notes
Don’t skip the blanching step; it helps lock in color and crunch. Feel free to add in sliced almonds or sesame seeds for extra texture.
